10 Social Media Marketing Strategies to Boost Your Business

Social media marketing is the most popular marketing strategy right now. It is the perfect ground where your business will get noticed. 

Almost everyone has their own social media account. There is a representative for every age category, gender, profession, hobbies, etc. This makes social media a target to most marketing strategies.

1. Plan your Game & Do not change it

What are you gonna be? You have to know before hand what you are going to do. Are you going to be an influencer and place affiliate links in your Instagram Bio or are you going to use it to market your website? Or maybe both? You also have to decide if you want a niche. Having a niche will help you focus on a certain subject or area. Moreover, the social media itself could easily determine who to connect you with. In my personal experience, which I think is a big mistake that ruined my pineterest account, try your best not to save pins of too many topics. You should save pins related to your interests or niche. 

After identifying these things, stick with it always. If someone with different niche gets more and more followers, do not shift to that niche. The social media channel will get confused. 

Important thing to remember with Pinterest is that it is more important to have more unique monthly viewers than having more followers (of course more followers the better). What I mean is don’t mind if you have no followers just pin always. You will gain viewers which in turn click through your links. 

Being able to clearly follow your plan and being consistent will get you on track to your goal. 

2. Be there always

If you plan to be a good social media marketer, you have to be available always. There should be someone to tend customer support. Not only that. If you want to gain more Instagram followers, interact regularly and post as often as possible. Here’s a tip, be online and interact for at least one hour before posting. This actually warms your account up. You became visible by interacting and this opens the way for your post to be seen by more users. In Pinterest, you have to save pins regularly. It is better to save a couple of pins regularly within the day (everyday) than to save a ton of pins in just one specific time of the day. 

3. Pay to win

Free is great. However, it is advisable to try paid advertisement. This don’t cost you much. Actually, Facebook ads cost only $5 to $10 for a day or two. Another good way to advertise is Instagram. What’s good in this advertisement is it targets the most likely social media user. The ads target the persons that you are targeting by putting a filter. 

Another way is to advertise using Google Adwords which is one of the top online advertisements. Don’t hold back for some bucks as it is an investment. You pay a little for a much bigger reward. 

4. Know the differences of each channel

You have to know the differences of every carpentry tools for you to use them properly for the right jobs. The same is true in social media marketing. Twitter for example, tweeting every 20 minutes or so is needed. Tweets don’t last forever like in Facebook. In Instagram, you cannot put links in your posts but using hash tags (#) is very important. The trick is to place around ten or more hash tags. Pinterest users are more willing to spend money than fb users based on the experiences of successful bloggers using social media. So make use of Pinterest to draw the users to your page. 

5. Go all out in customer satisfaction

Taking care of your clients is taking care of your business. What you can do to take care of your customer is by providing them with communication responses. Be sure you interact with them. Check for any comments in your posts and/or tweets. Answer their questions and deal with their issues. Explain further the things that needed one. Give time to respond to each messages or comments. Make every response specific to each one.

However, you don’t have to please customers always. Customer is not always right, but should be treated right every time. Do not agree to their unreasonable demands. 

6. Do not fear mistakes

Mistake is inevitable. We are only human and imperfect. Embrace this mistakes as you gain knowledge through this. You could always accept the mistake you have made in a post and say sorry. However, minor errors in a post or a tweet doesn’t require such. Let it be what you originally post since, for example you missed a period or a comma. Deleting it could hurt you because your followers will notice it.

7. Check your metrics

Tracking your social media performance could look time-consuming and a tedious process. Maybe, but you actually need some few hours every month and that is really not a big deal right? Reviewing your metrics is very important in order for you to assess how you compete with others. Do this once a month. I would suggest to do it on the first day or the last day of the month (choose only one). This will help you to take notes of every statistics that are important and you could adjust accordingly.

What particular stats you need to check are as follows: number of posts, gained followers, clicks, page views, likes, shares, impressions, etc. Compare your data with that of your competitors so that you get the idea whether you are getting a great match up.

If you think you cannot take time to do this tracking for each channels, you could use free social media tools like Google Analytics. You can see how does your content perform. After seeing which content was clicked better than others, see what’s common with them and pattern your next contents to it.

8. Mind the Looks

People judge according to what they see. Be sure that your account for every channels are good looking and pleasing to the eye. Make it look professional. Be mindful of the colors and structure of every elements of your account. From the logo, to the background color, etc.

9. Quality, Quantity, and Timing

We all know that different channels need different approach. But these three things are common to them. Quality will make you standout. People will find every posts you make as a treasure and will find them useful. Quantity will give you consistency in page views, followers, likes, etc. Posting/pinning more (with good quality) will make you digitally present always.  Timing will make you efficient. Knowing the best time to post, pin, and interact is like knowing when to fire a gun. You do not fire towards a hidden target. You wait for the right time until the target is visible and susceptible. It simply means that you should know the perfect time when your target audience is online. With this, you are maximizing the chance of getting viewed by the right persons.

10. Never quit

Whatever you are doing, no matter how bad your performance is, do not QUIT. You hold the key to your success. You’re not in place you wanted to be just yet. Sooner or later you will be in the position of tapping yourself and saying “I am glad you didn’t give up”.
